September 3, 2014 | 1 year anniversary
In 2007 I conducted my first ensemble and quickly learned how frustrating it can be to find great new music for a choir. I was drowning in websites with thousands of scores and struggled to find music I was excited to perform. There was no quality control and no way to discover new work; the whole thing felt too big and overwhelming.
I started asking friends:
- How many arrangements of “This Little Light of Mine” do I need?
- This the 21st century, how can a score be on a 6-week back order?
- Why aren’t there decent recordings of these pieces?
- How am I supposed to find great work from composers who don’t already have big names?
One year ago this month we officially launched a different kind of publishing company intended to answer these questions, and it’s been met with excitement and support from conductors around the country. We started small and worked hard to offer better ways for conductors to discover music they’d never heard before. We’ve expanded to include a broader range of composers and have encountered even more new and exciting music because of it.
We are proud to offer this kind of resource, one that helps conductors discovernew music for their groups. Our composers are thrilled as well, they appreciate that we keep things small and personal and maintain an individual relationship with each of them.
In fact, many of them wanted the chance to say a little something to you:
As our own way of showing our appreciation, See-A-Dot Music Publishing is offering a 25% discount on everything in the catalog from now through Sept. 15th. Just use the code year125off when checking out.
Thanks for a great first year; you can expect the same high level of quality music and service as we continue to grow!
Sincerely,
