Joseph N. Rubinstein

Joseph N. Rubinstein grew up in Newport News, VA and currently lives in New York City. Joseph’s music is often concerned with dramatic narrative, and he is interested in creating vivid, beautiful musical characterizations and striking juxtapositions. His choral music, art songs, operatic work and instrumental chamber music have been recently presented by organizations and individuals including the The Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater, American Opera Projects, The Holy Cross Chamber Singers, Triad: The Boston Choral Collective, The Secret Opera, bass-baritone Matthew Burns at the Spoleto Festival USA, North / South Consonance, the Society for New Music, Boston Metro Opera, and C4. He studied music at Columbia University and The Juilliard School.

Some of Joseph’s upcoming and recent projects include include scenes from “Legendary” on Fort Worth Opera Festival’s 2016 “Frontiers” program, the premiere of “…a clear view…” for tenor and baroque ensemble with New Vintage Baroque, and the premiere of “Dust World” for baritone and string quartet as part of the multi-composer opera “American Gothic.”  His choral work “How She Went to Ireland” will be released in the Spring of 2016 on the C4 Ensemble’s “Cornerstones” disc.  More at www.josephnrubinstein.com.
