Call for Christmas Pieces – Due Aug. 15, 2013

  • July 22, 2013

It may only be July, but for a composer, Christmas starts now! The New Haven Ontario Choir has a call out for original Christmas pieces. First prize is $250 and a professional performance and recording of your piece. Full info below:

The New Haven Oratorio Choir, a 24-voice SATB chamber choir based in New
Haven, Connecticut, directed by Daniel Shaw, is holding a composition
competition for original Christmas works for its December 2013 concert.

This December concert, called Ceremony of Carols Old and New, will begin
with Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, and will be followed by 5 pieces
selected from this competition. Submitted pieces should fit a Christmas
theme, but do not necessarily need to relate to Britten’s piece. The
concert will end with traditional arrangements of Christmas carols, so
preference for the competition will be given to pieces that are distinct
from traditional arrangements of well known carols.
